Hey everyone. The world of iOS music has been evolving rapidly. I thought it was a good time to start a new thread to share equipment setups. I'll start it with mine but do share yours as well. Simple or complex. All welcome.
Here's my current rig. I use it for practice, jamming and experimentation. Not into performance right now. Acoustic input (guitar, percussion, vocals) through Snowball USB mic. Mic and Korg NanoKontrol2 and NanoPad2 powered through USB hub. Headphone out.
NanoPad2: I use the XY pad to control the delay wet/dry mix of Magellan, my post input FX. All the active pads are used to control Loopy.
NanoKontrol2: The first 6 channels are each dedicated to a track in Loopy (Hand controls are easier when hands are available). The 7th channel is used to control the line input level of Magellan (effectively, my mic input) and Magellan delay feedback. The 8th channel is mapped to Turnado's dictator and wet/dry control for master FX.

Wow! really nice setup.. I'm new in Loopy HD, I would like to use it to prepare a perrformance in february with looping voices and acoustic parts. I have UCA 202 and CKK. How can I connect a mic into loopy HD through UCA 202?
Looks like you'd need a mixer of some sort. The UCA 202 appears to require a line level input. This is different than mic level. Of course, if you don't already have a mixer, which seems to be the case, you might be better off forgoing the UCA 202 and considering something else. Other options are a USB mic, an audio interface with mic-in, or you can even get a simple XLR to USB adapter for about $30 last I checked.
Thank you for your help. What do you mean for "line level input"? UCA 202 has two mono rca input. I tried to plug my shure sm58 into UCA input through an adapter, while UCA was connected to iPad through CKK. No results, I have no sound coming from mic into loopy hd. But, I already have a kind of mixer, a zoom R24 which I use to connect everything to a PA system.
Basically my setup it's like this: iPAD> ckk >> UCA > rca output > ZOOM R24 input > PA. Where and when can I plug a standard microphone in order to record audio into Loopy? Otherwise, I will buy a usb mic or a XLR-USB adapter. Thanks again.

This is kind of a silly request, but can you post a picture of your modified nanopad with a foot (shoed please, no fetish weirdness here!) for scale. I am thinking about the nanopad with your mod as a reasonable, economical foot controller option. thanks!
Like I said in the original post, it requires use without shoes. It's basically a tap with the big toe. Yeah, it requires a little more coordination but it's quite doable, nonetheless. Don't forget you can always just have four active pads (like the blue board) with more space between. Hope this helps.
Currently using iPad air, with loopy HD, Magellen and Ivoxel. I'm running these two instruments through it, cajon and steel tongue drum, adding fx live.. Next up is a mixer and mice so I can do it live on the street and at shows, but for now I'm just proving the concept.. And it sounds pretty cool..
thanks for the photo. that is indeed a tight fit (especially the back row) but it definitely seems doable without shoes.

Here's the one I've been working on in preparation for Loopy ME (which should greatly reduce the number of foot switches I will need) - Fishman triple play, KMI softstep 2, TC Helicon Play Electric. Fully battery powered (10+ hours per charge) with integrated hub and independent power switches for 5v/12v.
The Play Electric is the input/output audio interface for the iPad and sends a combined processed stereo mix of vocals and guitar (I do wish it could send the vocals and guitar on separate channels but I've made it work as is). Set the Play Electric to dual mono output mode when playing with a band for independent processed vocal XLR output and independent processed guitar/loops/VI XLR output. Or set to stereo when running solo to get a stereo mix of all instruments and loops.
With the TC helicon guitar/headphone cable it is also a wired IEM solution, use the aux in with XLR adapter for a FOH mix input that only goes to the IEM. It literally does everything I need in the smallest rig I have ever had and it even sounds pretty good too lol.

These two setups are impressive! Ringleader, i've got so many questions... that is a deceptively tidy setup for something that looks like it can actually do a lot! Are you using the Fishmann to send MIDI notes to your iPad synths? is that what that little dongle is doing? I've been watching that exact Anker 20,000 mAh battery, sounds like it performs great for you. My biggest question is: How are you charging the iPad thru the CCK??
Yeah the fishman sends midi notes to iPad VIs. The little dongle is the fishman receiver. You can't charge the iPad through CCK. Sorry if I made it seem like that. I just meant the battery has enough juice to charge all that stuff at once while still running the rig. Meaning, I can charge my phone and iPad while playing through just the play electric without the iPad connected in the rig. There are several USB charging ports on the battery itself, two are still open for charging an iPhone/iPad whatever. I love that anker battery.

Awesome setup, Ringleader. Thanks for sharing. I knew there were some rigs out there just waiting to be introduced to the world. So, it looks like you're completely wireless except for the vocal XLR mic input and the output to PA or whatever. Is that right? Is it possible to use a Fishmann midi device on an acoustic or strictly electric?
The midi is wireless, but the mag guitar signal requires a cable. And the vocal mic of course. The fishman isn't recommended for acoustic but it works ok if you use white bronze strings or the zebra ones by dr. They are more magnetic for the wound strings.
Aha. Would love to see you jamming away on this setup. Let me know if you ever get a video posted anywhere.

Hey Ringleader, on your super-duper custom board, what sort of switches are you using for the CCs?

Yeah as long as you have a brain (nanokontrol or whatever) to tie the switches to. I did long press commands with them via MidiBridge. Cool that Loopy is getting this functionality.
Yeah, very cool! I've got an old Boss FC50 that only sends PCs but it has the facility to plug in footswitches to send CCs.

Cool, yeah those switches should do the trick for the CTL jacks only, as long as they don't require latching switches. The EXP jacks might require a pot.
I use an FCB1010 in a custom pedal case with Loopy and Tonestack. Midi app switching would really make my life a lot easier.
