Recording tips?

edited December 2012 in General

I just want you guys to give me some recording tips, sometimes i'm recording some stuff and I start getting some awful noises, so I want some tips to get a nice record ( I think those awful sounds I get at my recordings are because I'm recording with the iPhone headphones mic and sometimes I put the mic close to my mouth and maybe that's the problem, that I am putting the mic to close) sorry for my bad english

  • tip one: get a better mic! :)

With whichever mic you use, you almost always want to sing just above it, not right into it. Depends on what you're recording and the mic you're using. The earbud mic doesn't handle plosives very well but more traditional dynamic mic like an SM58 can make plosives sound great for stuff like beat boxing.
