Occasional misbehaviour of Loopy

Hey there,

I re-created my entire Ableton set in Loopy and I totally love it. My problem is that Loopy sometimes does weird things and that's why I don't feel safe to go on stage with it.
I have created quite some groups to mimic scenes in Ableton. I've set the groups to play on their own, so that they stop any other group that is playing (Setting on the Groups page). Most of the time that works, but every now and then when I trigger a group, loops from the current playing group won't stop and that breaks my set.

The problem seems to show up when I trigger a group with phase locked clips that have follow actions to then trigger another group after some bars. (I create fills that way). Any idea what might be the problem?

And by the way, an action that simply does nothing but can be set to keep doing nothing for a set amount of time would be awesome. This way you can easily create an action tree with delayed actions, e.g. after 6 bars trigger widget X.

Cheers!

  • Are you on the latest update? Just checkin :)

  • Yes, always.
I realised that there are some issues when creating action chains and things get actually executed at the same time and not one after another like these arrows suggest. At least that is what I guess.
I created an empty dummy loop so I can slide an action in between that triggers the dummy after a quarter bar, so the next trigger action after that is delayed and then it seems to work (so far, fingers crossed).
Still, I don't feel comfortable stepping on stage with this (yet).

  • Follow actions happen one after the other instead of simultaneously, as far as I know.

  • Well, then something is off with that because delaying with the hack I did totally solved the problem.

  • Yeouch, sorry to hear that @Keychee! Thanks for getting in touch.

Any chance you could hook me up with your project and give me a quick primer on how to reproduce the shenanigans you're referring to? (you can email it to me at [email protected])

That's already in there actually - tap the sequence icon at the left of actions to set the delay (or quantisation):

  • Wow. Didn't know that. Thank you. Exactly what I wanted.
I'll write you a mail then...
