Need help binding with Lemur

edited August 2014 in Support and Feedback

I want to control Loopy with Lemur running on the same iPad4. The apps see each other, but Loopy doesn't seem to sense the "action" of a button push when I'm in Lemur and so won't bind. I've tried both with and without MidiBridge. What am I missing?

  • Sorry, I mean that Loopy doesn't receive the button push as an "event".

  • My best bet would be running another MIDI device to set up bindings. For example, another IOS device connected over wifi, route MIDI from network to MIDI bridge, then from MIDI bridge to Loopy. Since Loopy will see the msgs coming from MIDI bridge, you should then be able to open Lemur on your ipad and route it to loopy through MIDI bridge and (hopefully) have everything work!

  • The problem is ( I think) that while Loopy can run in the background, you need to have Loopy visible to add a binding and from what I can tell, the midi message needs to be sent while viewing the add binding page.
So, an alternative, if you already have MidiBridge, is to use the Stream Byter to delay the messages sent by Lemur to Loopy, so you have time it switch over to Loopy before the Midi message is sent. If you don't have MidiBridge, you could also use MobMuPlat (a bit more D.I.Y.) to do the delay.

  • The only way I've ever been able to get Loopy and Lemur talking to each other is to use the intermediary app FreEWI. Lemur can send midi to FreEWI and Loopy can receive midi from it.
It's a slight hassle, but it works. I've contacted both developers to try and get it sorted, but it isn't going to happen.

  • FreEWI worked! Don't have time tonight to try Stream Byter, but will do so soon and let you know how I make out. Thanks to all 3 of you for your suggestions.
